My name is Brad Wisniewski and I am currently a sophomore. I took Digital Photography one first trimester, and what I really enjoyed about it is we got lots of opportunities to take pictures and practice in class. Also the thing that I thought I did best at was the photoshop assignments. I had used photoshop in the past, but I learned a lot of new basic techniques. What I want to do in this class is learn more advanced photoshop skills.
I really enjoyed digital photography, but at the start of this class I didn't know anything about a camera, besides how to turn it on, as far as talking about the settings for taking pictures. I learned throughout the class how to be a better photographer by knowing what settings to use in certain situations, and applying that knowledge while taking photos. I have greatly improved at taking pictures as you can see in my photos below, showcasing my worst photo but also my best photo. There's another key aspect in taking photos, and that's editing the photos after, using photoshop. I have used the program in the past and knew the basics in photoshop, but I feel like with this class I was really able to raise my ceiling, for what I could do in photoshop. I believe I am intermediate with it now, and am happy what I can do while editing photos, with the techniques I have learned in the class Worst photo above Best photo above Photoshop assignments below For the motion blur demo the purpose was to take a picture of a moving subject, and focus on the subject so that the background was blurry. Our class headed outside to take pictures of Mr.Bush riding his bicycle around. The shutter speed had to be very low to capture the motion blur, but it was very difficult to keep the shutter speed low because of how sunny it was outside, so we had to have the ISO at 100.
In the 9th photoshop assignment "Multiple me," the goal was to take at least 3 different pictures of someone or yourself(timer), somewhere in or out of the school. Then from there upload the 3 or so photos into photoshop and stack them. Using the lasso tool it made it possible to put the same person in a photo as many times as you would like.
This week I decided to take pictures of landscape. I was up north at my cottage so I thought the sand would be pretty cool to shoot pictures of. I also thought the deck would look pretty nice since the water was so low, that you could see under it, for some depth. I had my camera in manual mode the entire photoshoot, and I mostly changed the shutter speed, on different angles. Best Photo Exposure Triangle ISO 100 Shutter Speed 1/320 Apperture f/4.5 Editing: I cropped a lot, and I played with the levels and shadows a ton. Other 9 Photos: In this Photoshop assignment the goal was to find tutorials that would further increase our Photoshop skills. I learned how to color certain parts of a photo, how to make a type of 3D effect, and how to create a glow behind text.
Picture 1: This Photoshop tutorial I liked a lot since it made a part of a photo stand out, to draw more attention to that aspect of it, and it was very easy to learn how to do. Picture 2: This was the hardest of the three, and was about medium difficulty. I loved the end result of the 3D effect, and how it pops out of the screen look. Picture 3: The glow effect was very easy to learn, and took little time to do, so I enjoyed learning how to do this simple effect. For my 6th photo I did architecture. I was up north and I didn't get a chance to go to any cities to shoot photos, so I ended up just taking photos of the architecture of my cottage. I shot pictures of this because I really like how it's made out of stone, and I wanted to take pictures of a lot of different angles to showcase the cool architecture of the house. It was a sunny day so my ISO for all the pictures was very low, and the shutter speed was the same as my best photo for every picture, or around the same. I did happen to change the aperture a lot to really show the different points of views. Best Photo Exposure Triangle: ISO 200 f/5.0 1/125 Editing- I liked the shadows from the trees so I didn't really adjust the levels too much, and I cropped every photo, to focus more on the architecture details. In the 3rd Photoshop assignment we learned how to make a panorama. We had a couple days to work on this project, and what we had to do was take 3 different photos that slightly overlapped, and then combine them in Photoshop, which was very interesting to see. The last things we did was crop the images, and put our names on the photos we took. For my 5th photo assignment I decided to do black and white. I mostly took the pictures in my back and front yard, and basically took pictures of anything I thought would look cool in black and white. Specifically I shot leaves and pumpkins, to represent a type of fall look. The leaves were different colors so it was interesting to see them in black and white, to see how they would compare to each other. Editing- Most of my editing was done to make the photos black and white obviously, but I tried to use different settings on each photo. Best Photo Exposure Triangle: Shutter Speed- 1/125 Aperture- F/4.0 ISO- 100 Other 9 Photos:
For the 5th photoshop assignment, it was portraits. In this project, we had to take pictures of portraits. We had to take pictures of window and studio lights. I also learned how to put a white frame in.
